NYSASDRI School of Journalism & Social Work (NSJS) was established in 2013 in Govindpur, Dhenkanal, Odisha. It has earned a distinct reputation over the past 12 years in the fields of social work and journalism education. The institution offers two-year postgraduate programs: M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication (MJMC) and Master in Social Work (MSW).
NSJS aims to fulfill the human resource needs of NGOs, counseling centers, healthcare and rehabilitation facilities, print and electronic media, public relations, advertising, and digital communication platforms. The school is committed to developing professionals dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities through voluntary efforts and structured social action.
The MSW program focuses on empowering individuals, groups, and communities, promoting social change, cohesion, and development through practical learning modules such as rural camps, agency placements, and dissertations. Trained social workers play a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable populations and driving grassroots transformation.
Similarly, the MJMC program has significantly in demand with the rise of digital media, extending beyond traditional platforms like radio, TV, and newspapers to include online news and social media. As a result, journalism has become an appealing and esteemed career path.

NSJS is affiliated to Utkal University of Culture vide memo no-808/UUC dated 07/05/2013 and is recognised by the Government of Odisha Tourism & Culture Department No-UC-18/2013/TC dated 25/3/2013.
